The Mens Rundown

The Final Four showdown is set!! On Saturday Florida Atlantic beat Kansas State 79-76, and UConn took care of Gonzaga 82-54. On Sunday, Miami battled from 13 down to beat Texas 88-81, and San Diego State edged Creighton 57-56 nail biter. The Final Four goes on Saturday April 1st. Florida Atlantic v San Diego State and Miami v UConn.

The Women’s Rundown

The Madness of March continues! Caitlin Clark obtained a historic triple double as Iowa upends number 5 Louisville. Caitlin’s 40 point triple dub is the first ever recorded in the men’s or women’s NCAA tournament. Caitlin Clark’s stat line: 41 points, 12 dimes, and 10 boards. Iowa punched their ticket to the Final Four for the second time in school history, and the first time since 1993. LSU beats Miami 54-42.

If you didn’t watch it last night. You missed another classic! Gonzaga and UCLA battled it out to the final seconds when after a Gonzaga timeout, Julian Strawther pulled up just on the edge of the half court logo and sank a 3 point dagger with 7.2 seconds that sent Gonzaga to a 79-76 win and a date with 4th seeded UConn this coming Saturday.

Busted Brackets. The NCAA Women’s Edition: Number 8 Ole Miss defeated Number 1 Stanford 54-49 last night Ata Maples Pavilion. Stanford is the fifth number 1 swws since 1994 to be knocked out of the tournament before the second weekend. Stanford standout Cameron Brink finished with 20 points, 13 boards, and 7 blocks. Angel Baker led Ole Miss with 13 points, and 4 boards.

Number 13 Furman out of nowhere upset number 4 Virginia 68-67. JP Pegues hit the game winning 3 pointer to send Virgina packing. This is Furman’s second ever NCAA win since 1974. Maryland beat West Virgina 67-65(I got that pick right by the way!) Missouri beat Utah State 76-65. Princeton beat number 2 Arizona 59-55. Trust me folks. Yesterday was a wild day for busted brackets!

The University of Syracuse has announced that Jim Boeheim has coached his last game as Syracuse’s head coach after 47 years. Syracuse announced that Boeheim will be replaced by associate head coach Adrian Autry. Boeheim finishes up his career with 35 NCAA tournament appearances, 5 Final Fours and the 2003 national championship spearheaded by Carmelo Anthony. He ranks second in all time Division 1 wins with 1,015, behind on Mike Krzyzewski’s 1,202.

The Rundown

These are stories I hate to write about. From the outside looking in I can say all types of things without knowing much about the individuals involved. But I can speak factually on the circumstances. Men need to know that ignorant bravado, a loaded gun, an ego do not mix well. Now a 23 year old woman leaves behind a 5 year old and a former University of Alabama basketball player is charged with capital murder. And allegedly Alabama star player delivered the gun to the former player before the shooting. Another man, Michael Davis(not affiliated with the University of Alabama) is also charged with capital murder.

A completely sad story all around with no winners.
